Meet Alexis Walsh

BFA Integrated Design '15

JAW Studio is an interdisciplinary design studio merging algorithms and handcraft through fashion, jewelry, hardware and objects. Headed by two designers, Alexis Walsh and Justin Hattendorf, each product is designed and produced locally in Brooklyn NY. The products are created with a range of sustainable materials and fabrication methods, including a biodegradable 3D printed polymer made from plant sugars and an innovative zero-waste printing process. 

Alexis Walsh graduated from Parsons The New School for Design in 2015 with a BFA in Integrated Design. While studying a combination of fashion design and product design courses, Alexis discovered her passion for incorporating 3D printing with traditional handcraft. Since then, she has presented her 3D printed fashion work in runway shows and exhibitions across New York, Boston, Paris, London, Moscow, Madrid, Manila, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, and Berlin. In addition to her personal work, Alexis has worked professionally as a fashion designer for a range of brands including Gap, Lululemon, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Loft, and Proenza Schouler. 

Justin Hattendorf is a transdisciplinary designer with work in architecture, product, fashion, and industrial design. His work aims to merge advanced digital techniques with intuitive, tactile processes for the creation of surreal objects and environments. Justin is a graduate of the Pratt Institute School of Architecture.
